Ribbon Cutting at Taylor Credit Union

(Abbotsford, WI)  La Macchia Group, LLC, a consulting, design build firm specializing in financial institution design and construction located in Milwaukee's historic Third Ward, participated in the ribbon cutting for Taylor Credit Union's new branch office in Abbotsford, WI.  The office is located at 310 South 4th Street.

"Construction began on this project in October of 2008 and was complete in April of 2009," said Ralph La Macchia, President of La Macchia Group.

The credit union was focused on creating a new space that catered to their membership while also being at the forefront of energy conservation building techniques.  Instead of a conventional heating and cooling design, Taylor Credit Union chose to use a geo-thermal approach that will ultimately save the credit union thousands of dollars off their energy costs.  Another energy and cost saving component utilized in the project was the use of Solatubes that capture natural light and redistribute that light into the building.  Ultimately, the project resulted in a building that is designed to work for the credit union and remain cutting edge for years to come.

"We wanted to use more natural resources so that we were not tied to the higher costs of petroleum in the future.  By incorporating the geo-thermal aspect to our building design we will benefit economically over time, " said Debbie Woods, President of Taylor Credit Union.  "Also, because of the economic downturn, it was important to the credit union to be able to use local labor for the actual construction of the building. La Macchia Group's process allowed us to do just that."
