Shamrock Federal Credit Union Embraces the Texan Sky

by La Macchia Group

DUMAS, TEXAS -- On April 2, 2018, Shamrock Federal Credit Union announced their new name and brand change to Texan Sky Credit Union. Established in 1940 to serve the employees and families of the Shamrock Oil and Gas Company, they are now a charter credit union now serving all persons who live, work, worship, or attend school in Moore and Live Oak Counties of Texas. In recent years, it became clear that their name and overall brand no longer represented the diverse membership they had come to serve or the vision of the Credit Union.

"We serve our members with the 'panhandle integrity' that has garnered trust and solid relationships throughout the community," says Eddie Phillips, President/CEO of Texan Sky Credit Union. "While we take pridein our heritage, we also take pride in the diversity of our membership and want to take the next steps forward to not only help the Credit Union grow, but to show a better representation of the poeple and communities we serve."

Knowing a rebrand was essential for their growth, Shamrock turned to La Macchia Group, a Milwaukee-based company that specializes in branding, designing and building for financial institutions. “The brand identity is inspired by the attitude and down-to-earth culture of the Texas panhandle. The word Texan Sky signifies ownership, and both the name and tagline were inspired by the idea that, just like the old saying goes, ‘the sky’s bigger in Texas,’ as are the opportunities, freedoms and dreams a member can achieve at the Credit Union. The idea behind the design direction was to bring a little bit of the western feel and grit of the surrounding landscape into the textural elements of the branded look. The color palette was inspired by the vibrant Texan sunsets and rich desert landscape,” says Rachel Mahuta of La Macchia Group, the creative mind behind the Texan Sky name and design.

BA Group, Northfield, Minn., has led the marketing following the name and branding change.

“We were immediately excited and honored to take the next steps with incorporating and building upon the beautiful brand La Macchia Group had created for the credit union, as well as developing all the rebranding elements needed for the launch of Texan Sky,” said Amy Herbig, CEO of The BA Group. “From creating a new website from scratch with our trusted partner, SmartSource Solutions, to the Brand Bootcamp held with the entire credit union team and everything we had to accomplish in-between – the journey from Shamrock to Texan Sky has happened quickly, but successfully and we couldn’t have asked to work with a greater group of devoted people who truly care about their members, their communities, and their credit union.”

With the name change and new brand, Texan Sky said it has made additional improvements to such things as its new responsive website and new Interactive Teller Machines at the branches. It has also moved to a new office that La Macchia Group helped design and build. This new location has a more modern look with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, unique Texan Sky brand incorporation, as well as a coffee station and lounge area for members to enjoy, the credit union said.

“Our mission with this rebrand is dedicated to empowering members with the financial tools to build their future and redefine what’s possible,” said Scott Snyder, vice president of Texan Sky. “We are the credit union that empowers you to ‘Start Dreaming,’ because we’re here to help make those dreams a reality.”

The credit union has approximately 7,800 members. For more, read the article in CUToday.
