Acadia Federal Credit Union

Acadia Federal Credit Union is built on a foundation they call their Holy Trinity: Staff, Members, and Community, and have been supporting this Holy Trinity since 1963. Over the years, Acadia's network has expanded to include 9 branches and an operations center across 5 counties in Maine. With growth and community support at the root of their mission, this branch in Brewer, Maine is just one of the few ways they are supporting their membership.

Named after the descendants of the French colonists who settled in the region, this strong culture inspired the design direction with both the exterior and interior of this branch. The Maine Acadian culture uses traditional building materials centered on heavy timber, wood clapboards, brick, and stone, which worked well with the simple 1, or 1.5 story homes designed to withstand harsh winters and heavy coastal snows. The areas, waterfront and lumber industries in Brewer also played a factor in our design of the interior space.

The lobby is a branded and comfortable space for members and staff to work together, the space acting as a perfect example of their tagline, "Together, we will!" which is also featured in the casework of the teller line. The edge of the quartz countertop waterfalls down the front and mimics the cross stroke multiple times across the front of the teller line. This provided a subtle node to the mountains in Acadia national park. A digital display found after entering the lobby allows for sharing community events, live rates, and promotions. The space is full of wall decals highlighting and representing the geographical area as a nod to the community that Acadia Federal Credit Union serves.
